2025 DCCCuk AGM – Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire

Thursday 25th/Friday 26th – Sunday 28th September 2025
DCCCuk AGM

Smeaton’s Lakes
Centrally located close to the A1 and the East Coast main railway line,
the site is an ideal base from which to explore the many attractions of this historic area.

The sympathetically developed site is a veritable nature wonderland
for walkers and dog lovers alike, with prime fishing both on our lakes and the River Trent.

Why Smeaton?
The viaduct carrying the A616 road over the River Trent
between Newark-on-Trent and South Muskham
(part of the original Great North Road) was designed and construction
was overseen by John Smeaton between 1768 and 1770 and is known as Smeaton’s Viaduct.

National Civil War Centre – Newark Museum

Don’t miss to see the Civil War Cannonball Hole on Newark Church!
The spire on Newark Parish Church dates back to around 1220
and as the fierce battles of the English Civil War raged, it was used as a look-out post.
Today, there is a hole in the spire of St Mary Magdalene’s Church
where a Parliamentarian cannonball is said to have hit it in 1644.
The church forms part of the Civil War Trail
which can be downloaded here.
